What is the best Deadpool movie in the franchise according to Rotten Tomatoes?

With ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ finally released, how does it compare with the previous movies in the franchise?

Deadpool y Lobezno

Deadpool and Wolverine’ is a massive success. There is no two ways about it. After a year without any other release and a couple of stumbles in the box office, the official introduction of the Merc with a Mouth into the MCU has completely broken records to the point where hype about the studio and its super hero movies has returned to an all-time high. But how does it compare with the rest of the franchise?

That question can be an extremely subjective topic, as individual preferences can vary wildly and some people may prefer the smaller story of the first when compared with the rest, or the extremely fun second part with a larger focus on the X-Force team. But one thing we can do to get a “definitive answer” is check how Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool franchise compares when it comes to its scores on a site like Rotten Tomatoes.

What is the best Deadpool movie according to Rotten Tomatoes?

So how does ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’, the arrival of Marvel Jesus into the MCU that has seemingly revived the brand, do when compared with the rest of the films in its own series? Take a look:

  • Deadpool (2016) - 85%
  • Deadpool 2 (2018) - 84%
  • Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) - 78%
  • Once Upon a Deadpool (2018) - 56%

As you can see, the third and latest Deadpool movie may be its most successful one, but it pales in comparison to the first two movies. The only reason why it’s not in the last spot is because of ‘Once Upon a Deadpool’, a re-edited version of ‘Deadpool 2′ that removes all the gore and graphic violence, alongside cursing, and becomes a PG-13 version of the film with cuts to the story being told by Deadpool to a kidnapped Fred Savage in a recreation of The Princess Bride.

Does this mean that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s efforts where not enough? Of course not. The MCU got both heroes back and ready to keep appearing in the future, and the movie is breaking records as the highest-grossing R-Rated movie of all time all during its opening weekend. So it may also be a bit too soon to judge its crowd-based score like this. It’s quite possible it’ll continue to fluctuate and change as time goes on.
