What time does Battlefield RedSec, the new free battle royale on Steam, PS5, and Xbox, launch?
Battlefield RedSec is gearing up for its launch on October 28.
Battlefield RedSec will be the final piece to shake up October. On the 28th, the highly anticipated battle royale from Battlefield 6 will launch, standing apart from the main game to create its own free-to-play experience. Yes, you read that right — it will be completely free on PC (Steam, EA Play), PS5, and Xbox.
The news broke yesterday, October 27, along with some leaked details that added weight to the announcement. At launch, the game will feature only squad modes for two or four players (duos or quads, in battle royale terms). The map will resemble a war-torn Los Angeles, packed with diverse points of interest where battles unfold across land, sea, and air. Up to 100 players will be able to join a single match.
RedSec comes from Redacted Sector, a hidden zone where players fight to be the last one standing. There are a few gameplay differences compared to other titles in the genre. For example, the closing circle kills instantly upon contact.
If you own Battlefield 6, you may have noticed that the Season 1 update adds a dedicated window for Battlefield RedSec. Starting at 4:00 PM CEST, you’ll be able to access the download from there. If you don’t own the game, you’ll need to search for it manually in your platform’s digital store. Be patient — the player surge in the first few hours after launch will be massive.
