When is iOS 18 out and which models are compatible: all the new features and how to install it

When does iOS 18 come out?

Traditionally, new versions of iOS are released some days before the new iPhone hit shelves. On this occasion, the iPhone 16 will be available from September 20 and will arrive with iOS 18 from the moment its user turns it on, but users with compatible models will be able to try it out on September 16. During this Monday’s presentation, we saw some of the new features that iOS 18 will have on the new Apple devices, taking advantage of the improvements promised a few months ago, showing the use of the new processors. The brand new iOS was introduced earlier this year during WWDC 24.

How to install the new iOS 18?

There are two ways to get your hands on the new version of iOS. On the one hand, if you want to test it before its official release, you can always go the official beta route, which you can only access if you are enrolled in Apple Beta. If you don’t get access in time and you arrive on the day of the iOS release, don’t worry, there are two options.

The first is to wait for your iPhone (if it is compatible, more on that later) to receive the update automatically. Remember to keep your device charged and have enough storage for the download. On the other hand, you can always be the one to initiate the process and go to Settings and look for the Check for Updates option to start the process.
