The upcoming series with Collin Farrell that takes us into the underbelly of Gotham, presented by Matt Reeves’ The Batman, is coming soon to MAX.
The success of Matt Reeves’ The Batman, released in 2022, had been in the works for some time. Even before the release of the movie itself, Warner Bros. was already thinking about making a spin-off of this grounded world and saw The Penguin as a worthy candidate to show the always terrifying and dark criminal underworld of Gotham City. A few days before its arrival on television and with positive reviews from the press, we review everything you need to know about this series.
‘The Penguin′ release date
The return of Collin Farrell as “Oz” Cobb, aka Penguin, has a date on the calendar. The series will premiere on Thursday, September 19 at 9 pm ET on Max, and then Sundays at 9 pm ET starting September 29. The series will run for a total of 8 weekly episodes, concluding on November 10.

The Penguin has already released a number of teasers, trailers, and even behind-the-scenes footage that give us a glimpse into an important part of this world that will continue to grow on television. The first teaser was released earlier this year, giving us the context of Oz’s love for mobsters:
In June, we had a second teaser that gave us another glimpse and previewed the September release.
For San Diego Comic-Con 2024, we already had an official trailer, which was our last look before the premiere.
Cast of ‘The Penguin′
The cast of ‘The Penguin’ is a mix of talent we saw in the Batman movie and new talent coming in to continue to bring Gotham to life. Standing out among this cast is Cristin Milioti (yes, The Mother from ‘How I Met Your Mother’) as Sofia Falcone, the daughter of mobster Carmine Falcone, who also has a great dark side.

Set shortly after the events of The Batman, Oz Cobb, A.K.A. the Penguin, begins his rise in the underworld of Gotham City as he contends with the daughter of his late boss, Carmine Falcone, for control of the crime family’s empire.
