Resident Evil Requiem marks February 27 as one of the key dates for the video game industry in 2026. Its release is undoubtedly one of the hits of the year, and for that reason, you must be prepared for what Capcom has in store. The Japanese company’s “kitchen” has a lineup of characters that combine yesterday and today, the past and present of the franchise, with all the trimmings.
Behind Grace Ashcroft, the main face of Resident Evil Requiem
Many questions had been raised about Grace. Who is she? Where does she come from? Her surname did not go unnoticed by fans. Ashcroft immediately brings to mind her mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, a survivor of Raccoon City.
The veteran appeared in Resident Evil: Outbreak and its sequel, File 2. In the context of the story, she was working as an investigative journalist when the original outbreak occurred. She pursued Umbrella to uncover its mysteries, but that led her to become the center of the target.
Grace took a different path. She applied to become an FBI intelligence analyst working on homicide cases across the United States. Her last case led her to reconnect with ghosts from her past, which is where the story of Requiem begins.
And Leon tries once again to save the world...
Little remains of the rookie Leon we saw in Resident Evil 2. For years, the legendary character has been fighting Umbrella and its infected in every possible scenario. In the current narrative, the character continues to suffer the burden of those he couldn’t save in Resident Evil 4 and 6. In fact, Capcom points out that this Leon is a direct sequel to the one we saw in Resident Evil 6.
Leon in Resident Evil Requiem continues to be part of the DSO (Division of Security Operations), a federal unit dedicated to fighting bioterrorism. The alert over the growing wave of murders in strange circumstances leads him to take action in the field. Furthermore, judging by the trailers, his condition is not the most ‘stable’.
What other characters are featured in Resident Evil Requiem?
As is evident, Capcom has several aces up its sleeve when it comes to the cast of characters chosen. The main antagonist they have revealed prior to launch is Victor Gideon, whom the studio describes as “the prime suspect in the strange deaths plaguing the United States.” He worked at Umbrella during the T-virus research, so he has blood on his hands.
