Who is Jonathan Majors: This is the Marvel actor who was convicted, but ultimately will not go to jail

After just over a year, the actor behind Kang the Conqueror has escaped jail time on domestic violence charges with a lighter sentence.

The case behind Jonathan Major has ended and his sentence has kept him out of jail. This Monday he was sentenced to probation after just over a year of being accused of domestic violence by his ex-girlfriend. Now the actor will have to complete a one-year domestic violence therapy program.

The sentence was handed down by Manhattan State Supreme Court Justice Michael Gaffey, who found Majors guilty on December 18 of one count each of third-degree assault and second-degree harassment against Grace Jabbari, now his ex-girlfriend.

What were the charges against Majors?

The actor was arrested on March 25, 2023, after police responded to a call he made claiming the girl he was with needed medical attention. However, he was arrested and released on charges of strangulation, assault, and harassment of the girl who was with him at the time. Fast forward, on December 18, 2023, Majors was found guilty of third-degree reckless assault and harassment. The plaintiff was originally charged with four counts of assault, aggravated harassment, and harassment. This conviction led Marvel Studios to drop Jonathan Majors as the current main villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while the studio was already working on possible replacements for its upcoming films.

What was Jonathan Major known for and what will happen to his career?

Jonathan Majors rose to fame in recent years thanks to his roles in the MCU (where he was cast as the big villain in the new Avengers movies). But his career didn’t stop there, as he also had the role of the antagonist Damian “Dame” Anderson in Creed III opposite Michael B. Jordan, as well as his role as Atticus Sampson “Tic” Freeman in HBO’s Lovecraft Country.

Jonathan Majors made his debut on Marvel as He Who Remains in the first season of ‘Loki¡, while in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ he acted as the main antagonist. He was set to become the new threat of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the great villain of Phase 5, Kang the Conqueror in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027).
