Who is Quinn in ‘The Boys’ and what is his connection to Soldier Boy?

The latest ‘The Boys’ introduces Quinn, a failed V-1 experiment who unleashes an infection and reveals a dark connection to Soldier Boy and his past.

Update:

The fourth episode of the fifth season of ‘The Boys’ on Prime Video has introduced us to Quinn, one of the most disturbing superheroes we’ve ever encountered. He’s a character who doesn’t appear in the comics, and while not much is revealed about him, there is a clear connection to Soldier Boy.

The following contains spoilers for the fourth episode of ‘The Boys’ Season 5

Who is Quinn in ‘The Boys’?

When Butcher’s group—Hughie and company—and the duo of Homelander and Soldier Boy arrive at Fort Harmony in search of the V-1, they discover something terrifying. The entire facility is overrun by some kind of spore infection. “Like ‘The Last of Us’?” asks Hughie. “No, that’s ‘The Walking Dead’ with mushrooms,” replies Frenchie. The reality is that the source of this infection, which is making the supers more hostile, is Quinn.

What is clear is that Quinn underwent the same V-1 experiments as Soldier Boy; however, while Soldier Boy was enhanced, Quinn was disfigured and transformed into a sort of hybrid between human and plant. Quinn despises Soldier Boy for having gained access to the trials through his family’s money and influence, rather than on his own merits. This rivalry culminates when Soldier Boy ends up killing him, in a scene that reveals a more emotional side of the character.

The leading theory is that Quinn might be connected to Jensen Ackles’ character’s family history, and that he could even be his brother, since we know that the latter was a war hero. This is by no means confirmed, but all the evidence points to this theory being quite plausible.

In any case, everything suggests that the upcoming spin-offVought Rising’ could delve deeper into this connection, as it will explore the origins not only of Soldier Boy, but also of the other early test subjects who were experimented on with V-1. In addition to him, there are Stormfront, Torpedo, Bombsight, and Private Angel.

‘The Boys’ fifth season is currently streaming on Prime Video, with the first four episodes now available.
