Will Smith caused the set of Men in Black to be evacuated because of farting
Director Barry Sonnefeld revealed that the set of Men In Black sounded alarms because of Will Smith’s epic farts.
Will Smith is one of the biggest stars of Hollywood of our times, starring in many blockbusters during the 90s and early 2000s all the way to the present day, with the exception of the occasional box office failure such as ‘Wild Wild West’. Be that as it may, Smith had an exceptional start in Hollywood with films like ‘Independence Day’, ‘Bad Boys’, and ‘Men in Black’. And it is precisely about this last film that just gave us a strange tidbit of information regarding its filming, and flatulence.
A three-hour evacuation from the set due to Will Smith’s farts
That is how Barry Sonnenfeld, director of ‘Men in Black’ and other films like ‘The Addams Family’, ‘Men in Black II’, and ‘Men in Black III’, among others, explained in a recent interview with the podcast Let’s Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa, where he left a series of headlines as hilarious as they are surprising about the filming of the first installment of ‘Men in Black’, starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.
The incident apparently occurred at the scene where Smith and Jones were locked in the car during the chase, and to film the scene, both actors had to remain “hermetically sealed” on the capsule that was going to be used for the car: “And I hear Will Smith say, ‘Oh, Jesus. So sorry. Tommy, so sorry. Baz, get the ladder’. You hear Tommy saying, ‘That’s fine, Will. No worries, Will. Don’t worry, Will,’” he recalled. “I don’t know what’s going on. So we race the ladder over. Tommy reaches his leg out as the ladder is coming over, races down the stairs.”
Turns out, “Will Smith is a farter,” revealed the director. “Some people are. And you really don’t wanna be inside a very small hermetically sealed space with a Will Smith fart. You don’t even wanna be sitting next to him at the Disney ranch. We evacuated the stage for, about 3 hours. He’s, you know, a lovely guy. Just, he farts.”
