Will the PS5 Pro get exclusive games? Sony explains their plans for the upgraded console

Does the arrival of an upgraded PS5 mean that developers will release games exclusive to the new version of the console?

God of War

One of the biggest questions that people have been asking about the PlayStation 5 Pro is if there are plans to release titles that will not be compatible with a regular PS5. These fears are not unfounded, as we’ve seen this happen before in the video game industry when Nintendo launched the New Nintendo 3DS and, soon after, exclusive games followed. That revision of the handheld offered a second analog stick and better performance to the most demanding users, but it ended up having heavyweight exclusives like Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. Could the same thing happen with this intergenerational model from Sony?

The answer is no. The company intends to maintain the same philosophy as with the PS4 Pro, which never had exclusive games. The last thing Sony is looking for is to divide its community and it has made it known in different publications: “Our PS5 journey would not be possible without the millions of players that have supported us through the years and have shared with us their love of gaming. Whichever console option players choose, whether it’s PS5 or PS5 Pro, we wish to bring everyone the very best gaming experience that fits their needs.”

What is the PS5 Pro meant for?

Some will wonder then, What’s the point of PlayStation 5 Pro if it doesn’t have exclusive games? but the answer is just as simple. Although at the outset it will be accompanied by a lot of improved games and will help standardize 4K and 60 fps, the console is actually a future movement that will shine especially with GTA 6 and with the launch of PlayStation 6.

According to its first trailer, the Rockstar Games game will be an important graphic leap and we will have to see how the performance goes on a normal PlayStation 5. Taking into account that GTA 5 is the best-selling game in history, it doesn’t seem like a bad idea to offer an additional platform that, without GTA 6 for PC In between, boasts about the best version of a game looking to break records.

The same goes for PlayStation 6. This generation has had many titles that have also come out on PS4, the so-called intergenerational, and Sony is expected to follow a similar strategy with its next console. The differences between the first next-gen games of the same and their PS5 versions may not be as wide in Pro, and that would make the console a more affordable option, or even perfect for jumping in later.
