Wolfenstein may be back soon, as the Blazkowicz Saga was always considered a trilogy
Update:

For years, fans have wondered if a third mainline Wolfenstein game would ever materialize. Developer MachineGames, which successfully rebooted the series with Wolfenstein: The New Order in 2014 and its sequel, The New Colossus, in 2017, has been occupied with other projects. Most recently, the studio released the highly anticipated Indiana Jones and the Great Circle for Xbox Series and PlayStation 5, and even the DLC, The Order of Giants. But now, all it seems is that BJ Blazkowicz might be back.

Speaking in an interview for the NoClip documentary on MachineGames, studio director Jerk Gustafsson offered hope for a third entry in the modern Wolfenstein saga to wrap up the story. “We have always seen this as a trilogy,” Gustafsson said. “That journey for BJ, even during those first weeks at id, when we mapped out New Order, we had the plan for, at least, that character: what will happen in the second one, what will happen in the third one. I think that’s important to say, because — at least, I hope — we’re not done with Wolfenstein yet. We have a story to tell.”

This story has not yet concluded

With this information, it is clear that the studio remains committed to concluding the narrative they started. The last mainline Wolfenstein game was 2017’s The New Colossus, this being the last time players experienced a direct, single-player chapter of BJ’s story. Although the team also worked on the co-op-focused spinoff Wolfenstein: Youngblood in 2019.

Aside from the aforementioned Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Machine Games has also been busy working with other id properties, with games like Doom, Quake, and Quake 2. Now, with the recent announcement that Amazon MGM Studios and Bethesda Softworks are developing a Wolfenstein TV series for Prime Video, it can be the perfect time to bring back the game and finish the trilogy once and for all.
