World of Warcraft Undermined is an experience “based on this idea of goblin fantasy”
The New York of the ’20s, goblin mobs, and not-so-safe cars await us in Azeroth.

World of Warcraft has allowed us to ride different types of mounts to travel the corners of Azeroth. From horses to dragons, we have been able to travel the land and sky in a variety of ways. But the latest update to World of Warcraft: The War Within sets a new precedent. It’s the arrival of vehicles designed by the goblins of the Underground. The update is 11.1 for Blizzard’s long-running MMORPG. With its release this week, we had a chance to talk to some of the development team.
What does Undermined offer?
This update will allow us to visit the goblin city of Undermined, the capital of the goblins' trade empire. Being a city different from what we are used to in this world, the great experience in technology, added to the creativity of the goblins, have allowed them to create vehicles that, although not very safe, allow us to go through this area. This is an adventure that mixes posters, but also part of the culture and society of the goblins, allowing us to immerse ourselves in this very special corner of Azeroth.
The idea for this place, according to Lead Visual Development Artist Gabriel Gonsales, is a place that mixes 1920s New York with the fantasy of mob bosses and, of course, goblins. “It’s mostly based on this idea of like the fantasy of like the goblins being like very flashy, maybe they don’t really care too much about like the quality of their vehicles, but they really want to show off.”

Another of the details that this update brings are the four main cartels that are run by infamous goblins. These cartels will offer temporary contracts with no restrictions on who you can ally with. As dangerous as Undermined can be, one of the details we were most interested in was whether the goblins would have a problem with us working for one cartel or the other. However, the interests of its inhabitants do not seem to cause any friction when it comes to the common good.
“As long as their interests are in the underworld, there will be conflicts. But in general, they will end up working together because they have certain interests,” Gonsalez commented. “I don’t think we should expect a lot of friction in the sense that we might have in the past, as we’ve seen with other events. We’re going to see less of that in Undermined.

As always, World of Warcraft players will find plenty of activities, dungeons, and lore to explore with this new quest, which is available now.
