Xbox confirms that it is already working on its next-generation console under the code name Project Helix

Details of this upcoming console are still minimal, and there is no release date.

Update:

Despite a shortage of components that will affect the PC world, Xbox has confirmed that it is already preparing to work on what will be the fifth generation of its consoles, under the name Project Helix.

In a social media post on X, Asha Sharma, the new CEO of Microsoft Gaming, who recently took over from the now-retired Phil Spencer, revealed that her team is already working on this console, confirming rumors that it would run both Xbox and PC games.

“Great start to the morning with Team Xbox, where we talked about our commitment to the return of Xbox including Project Helix, the code name for our next generation console,” the executive wrote on her X account. “Project Helix will lead in performance and play your Xbox and PC games. Looking forward to chatting about this more with partners and studios at my first GDC next week!”

A new console in challenging times for technology

It is still too early to discuss the details of this upcoming console, as it is still an announcement with a code name, so any details that emerge should be taken with a grain of salt. There is no possible release date, but considering PlayStation’s recent plans to delay the launch of a still hypothetical PlayStation 6, due to the current shortage of PC components, such as RAM and solid-state memory intended for the creation of specialized data centers for Artificial Intelligence. How will Xbox resolve this? It remains to be seen.
