Update:

Microsoft’s Xbox division is facing a period of drastic change. Following Phil Spencer’s departure—and his replacement by Asha Sharma—and the teaser for its upcoming console, Project Helix, the achievements system—one of its main pillars since its introduction in 2005—is now getting a facelift. These updates will first roll out to members of the Xbox Insider Program and will gradually become available to the rest of the user base.

Xbox wants you to show off your achievements like never before with several changes and new features to its system

In a blog post on its official website, Xbox has outlined a series of significant changes to the achievements system within its ecosystem. The company describes them as “improvements to Achievements that make it easier to celebrate your accomplishments and curate how they appear on your profile.” There are four main changes to this revamped system, which are as follows:

  • Achievements get a visual refresh: a new notification design featuring updated icons, animations, and color customization options.
  • Hide games from your achievement list: while this won’t remove the Gamerscore you’ve already earned, you’ll be able to hide certain titles you’re embarrassed about from your player profile at will.
  • Highlight your 100% completed games: Games in which you’ve unlocked the entire list of achievements will be prominently displayed on your player profile, making it clear that you’ve conquered all their challenges.
  • New filter options: An advanced filter system will let you search for specific games on your profile, which is especially useful if your history is extensive.

For now, these updates are exclusive to members of the Xbox Insider Program. Microsoft clarifies that a small group of users can already enjoy them, and that the new features are based on community feedback. In other words, this is something the users themselves have requested, and the company is working to bring their suggestions to life.
