Xbox Live is down and there are login issues: Microsoft investigating outage causes
Xbox users are suffering major issues with their Xbox Live accounts, with Microsoft looking into the outage.
The Xbox Live network is down, with Xbox users flooding onto social media to report that they are having troubling with their accounts.
Microsoft confirms major Xbox problems
On its ‘Xbox Status’ page, Xbox makers Microsoft have confirmed major outages in the following areas: account and profile; friends and social activity; and cloud gaming and remote play.
“You may not be able to sign-in to your Xbox profile, may be disconnected while signed in, or have other related problems,” Microsoft says. “Features that require sign-in like most games, apps and social activity won’t be available.”
The tech giant added: “You may have trouble joining parties, receiving party invites, or remaining in a party after joining […]. You may have trouble starting cloud games or be unexpectedly disconnected from a game after it begins.”
What caused Xbox to go down?
It is unclear what has caused the outages. At the time of writing, Microsoft said it was investigating the issues, with a resolution still “pending”.
You can follow updates on the resolution of the problem on the official Xbox Status site or on the Downdetector website, a site where users report problems and crashes broken down by operator, time zone of the alerts, and geographic zones. There are already nearly a thousand reports of the current outage.
Today’s major Xbox outages come a day after PlayStation users were unable to access Sony’s online gaming network for several hours.
