Xbox Live is down: When it will be up and why you can’t sign in

If you are an Xbox user and you are trying to play online games on the Xbox series X|S, Xbox One or Xbox 360, you are experiencing the problem of not being able to log in. Apparently, you are not the only person experiencing this problem, as all indications are that the service is down... or maybe you are playing EA SPORTS College Footbal 24.

Users on social media have been reporting problems for about 2 hours now, according to the Downdetector site. The problems started around 6:00 pm ET and increased, peaking at 4:52 pm ET. Below you can see how the service problems were reported to Downdetector:

For its part, the official Xbox support site, Xbox Status, makes it clear that the services related to Account & Profile, as well as Store & Subscriptions, present a minor outage. All other services, such as Cloud Gaming and Multiplayer, are strangely without problems. According to the site, the problem has been reported since 6:57 PM and is still being worked on. Cross-play games, such as Sea of Thieves, are also experiencing problems logging in on non-Xbox platforms.

When will Xbox be up and running again?

Given the importance of the Xbox service to its consoles and the subscription services it manages, the downtime should not last that long and should be back in the next few hours. You can follow updates on the resolution of the problem on the official Xbox Status site or on the Downdetector website, a site where users report problems and crashes broken down by operator, time zone of the alerts, and geographic zones. There are already nearly a thousand reports of the current outage.
