XDefiant, Ubisoft’s free-to-play CoD, dates its final version with a 1-year roadmap

After numerous delays and various test phases, the new multiplayer shooter proposal from the Tom Clancy universe launches its 1.0 version.

XDefiant, Ubisoft’s first-person multiplayer shooter based on the Tom Clancy universe, already has a release date for its final version: May 21, 2024. Yes, in just over fifteen days we will be able to enjoy version 1.0 of this online FPS on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S after several delays and setbacks, as well as various testing phases. This has been announced by Ubisoft through its official channels, also sharing a roadmap a year ahead loaded with new content that will be added to the base game.

Thus, Ubisoft has accompanied the announcement of the release date of the final version of XDefiant with two roadmaps, one for the pre-season of the game and one for 1 year through 4 different seasons. Starting with the so-called Preseason, already known from the various betas, it will consist of 14 maps with 10 battle arenas and 4 progressions, 5 factions with the so-called Dedsec, Cleaners, Libertad, Echelon and Phantoms, 5 game modes with 3 arenas and 2 progressions, and up to 24 weapons with up to 44 attachments.

The highlight, however, will come in the form of the four seasons planned for the first year of the game, called Ruby, Buzz, Orchard, and Horde, refering to other games from the company such as Watch Dogs, The Division, Far Cry and Splinter Cell. Each of these seasons - each with a duration of 3 months - will include 3 new weapons, 3 maps, and up to 90 levels of its own Battle Pass with a good handful of unlockable items of all kinds through our progress in the game.

New arena and progression modes, ranking and private matches, training areas, and Ubisoft’s promise to keep the game cheat-free will also be added over time. XDefiant final version will be available for free on May 21 on PC (only on Ubisoft Connect, no Steam nor Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
