You’re not missing shots, Battlefield 6’s hit registration is broken and it’s being addressed
The “ghost bullet” bug makes enemies invincible as developers rush to investigate.
Since its launch last week, Battlefield 6 has enjoyed impressive player numbers, but a glaring technical issue—poor hit registration—is frustrating players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. That’s right, you are not as bad as you thought in EA’s new shooter. This bug, which many players are calling “ghost bullets,” is causing shots to seemingly pass right through enemies without dealing the intended damage, directly impacting the integrity of the game’s core combat experience.
The bullet sponge mystery
This problem has become popular in social media, specially in Reddit, where the community has quickly uploaded clips showcasing the issue. One of the first was shared by Reddit user KaiKamakasi, who posted a damning video from the New Sobek City map. The footage clearly shows the player firing over twenty bullets directly into an enemy soldier. The visual effect of blood splattering from the target confirms a hit, yet no damage is registered on the player’s HUD, and the opponent remains unharmed.
Other players have chimed in with their own stories, echoing the sentiment that their shots are not landing as they should. Many believed at first they were simply facing opponents with unprecedented levels of armor or suffering from a lack of skill. As one user noted, “You can even hear it when the bullets hit a body so you know are hitting them,”
The good news is that a solution seems to be coming its way. Florian Le Bihan, Principal Game Designer on Battlefield 6, publicly addressed the problem in X (formerly Twitter), bringing much-needed clarity to the situation. He acknowledged the specific issue being reported: “It is commonly observed with the target being visibly hit (blood splatters) but no damage is confirmed in the HUD (no hit indicator etc...).” Meanwhile, don’t get so angry if those bullets don’t hit.
