YouTuber Marques Brownlee gives his opinion on the new MacBook Neo: “That would be kind of crazy”

One of the world’s leading tech gurus analyzes Apple’s new laptops and clarifies what they can and cannot do and who they are intended for.

Update:

The MacBook Neo is now official. Apple now has its “affordable entry point” to attract new Mac users. A laptop designed for those who want to browse the web, write emails, and perform light tasks without complications. But according to one of the great technology gurus, Marques Brownlee, don’t ask for much more than that.

“This is like it’s a super basic computer. [...] This probably already isn’t for you,” the YouTuber emphasizes. Brownlee warns that if anyone has doubts about the RAM, ports, or processor power, they’re probably already looking at the wrong model. For him, MacBook Neos are for everyday tasks: browsing websites, sending emails, shopping online, working with spreadsheets... and nothing else.

According to him, expecting anything more from the Neo is “crazy.” No video editing or working with large files. “But I also wouldn’t be surprised if it could handle some light photo editing, some multitasking, and just, you know, generally be a solid computer. Think of it like a Chromebook, but the Apple one. It’s like a Safari book, basically.”

I’m sure Apple sees this less as criticism and more as a perfect summary of what it wants to offer: a Mac for everyday use, not a workhorse for enthusiasts. Nothing for people who know who Marques Brownlee is.
