Zack Snyder is willing to continue the DC Snyderverse on Netflix, under one condition
With rumors of Netflix getting the rights to the Snyderverse from DC and Warner Bros., Zack Snyder has revealed if he’d come back to continue the saga.
Zack Snyder, the famous director behind films like ‘300′, ‘Man of Steel’, and ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’, has assured that he would be willing to continue with his vision of DC’s superheroes as part of the so-called DCEU if Netflix took over the rights. This was stated in a recent interview with Cultura Ocio (via Screen Rant) during the press tour of his next film ‘Rebel Moon’ for said streaming platform.
Will the Snyderverse continue on Netflix?
After the recent words of Zack Snyder himself about the definitive end of the so-called Snyderverse, the filmmaker has surprised fans with some recent statements in which he claims to be willing to continue with his vision should Netflix get the rights to said characters: “If Netflix had the rights to the characters from my DC universe, of course I would, absolutely,” said the director.
Some time ago rumors arose about alleged movements by Netflix regarding the possibility of acquiring the rights to the Snyderverse, Zack Snyder’s version of DC superheroes that began in 2013 with ‘Man of Steel’ and continued with ‘Batman v Superman’ and ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’, with other directly derived films such as ‘Wonder Woman’ and ' Aquaman’ were made as part of the universe by other filmmakers. However, said DCEU will come to an end imminently with the premiere of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’, making way for James Gunn’s new DCU in 2025 with ‘Superman Legacy’.
Long ago, President of Netflix Film Scott Stuber spoke about this possibility despite acknowledging that it was very unlikely: “Obviously we would like to license it at some point. We’d love to have it on so that fans can experience more Zack. The more Zack we have, the better we are.”
Zack Snyder has found in Netflix the ideal partner for his new projects, from the zombie franchise of ‘Army of the Dead’ to his new galactic saga ‘Rebel Moon’.
