Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s Japanese release had a detail about Link that was changed for the rest of the world
A screenshot from Breath of the Wild shows this curiosity from the Japanese language version.
The upcoming month of May is marked in red on the calendars of adventurers everywhere, as one of the most anticipated titles of recent years arrives: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. As the date approaches, we keep discovering curiosities, even about Breath of the Wild, and today we can find one that we think is great... although it is only available in the Japanese version of the game.
As we can see from the screenshots attached to the tweet under the same paragraph, the mission diary in this language is written as if Link himself were doing it, as opposed to a description written from a different perspective. “I’ve overcome the entirety of the trials,” reads the description of one of them, with a title that, according to Google Translate, is “Reward from Guru,” something not so far from the English one. “My destination is the Forgotten Temple at the oldest statue of the goddess. I wonder what it is that’s been arranged - I can’t wait!”
However, unfortunately, we can see that in the case of the English language, the same text is written in the second person, as we have been able to play all this time. It is expected that this feature will be the same for the other languages and that in the case of Japanese, we will only be able to enjoy the first person as if it were Link’s diary.
The trailer that won everyone over
On April 13th, a month before its release, we were able to enjoy the final trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, a 4-minute sample that made it clear, in case there was any doubt, that we were talking about a strong candidate for GOTY. After years of waiting and even speculation about the possibility of seeing it on a future new Nintendo Switch model, it will finally arrive on May 12.
Announced at E3 2019 as simply “the sequel to Breath of the Wild,” it still took a while for us to discover its final name, as the game was originally born as downloadable content for the base game. However, its size eventually convinced Aonuma and his team that it was worth treating it as a full-fledged sequel.
