Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom gets a new trailer detailing abilities, the open world, and more features

It’s finally happening! Nintendo is officially letting Princess Zelda star in one of her own games, and while it looks very similar to a previously released game, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is actually an entirely new adventure, with a full world to explore and many new things to discover.

Nintendo recently released a new look at what the next Zelda title will bring to players once it releases further on, and from what it looks it’s an extremely different kind of adventure, much more open, yet with a new way to play and to explore the land of Hyrule. Using the same adorable chibi style of the Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake for Nintendo Switch, Echoes of Wisdom looks absolutely stunning.

The trailer above gives us a good look at the new Hyrule we’ll be exploring, and even names some of the locations we’ll be able to explore: the Gerudo Desert guarded by the race of warrior women, Jabul Water and two warring tribes of Zora, Eldin Volcano, with its classic monsters and Gorons, and the Faron Wetlands, a maze-like jungle that is the home of the Deku. With that, we have confirmation that the classic group of races from the franchise are making a comeback.

Apart from that, this sneak peek at the game also reveals that there are plenty sidequests to complete throughout the game, with which you’ll be able to help out the townsfolk and help fix whatever has caused rifts to appear all over the world. And while there is a new “Travel Waypoints” system that lets you fast travel throughout the world with ease, you can also ride horses to move around with haste.

Finally, we also get a good look at a new ability called “bind”, which allows Zelda to link-up (heh) with whatever object she chooses to make it move in the exact same way she does, or the other way around. In combination with the main “Echo” ability that lets her summon objects and enemies at will, it’s starting to look like this new moveset could be just what the series needs to spice things up completely.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom releases on September 26, 2024, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
