Waiting
Lost Ark launch delayed: when will the servers be activated?
Last-minute adjustments to the servers of the MMORPG from Smilegate and Amazon Games temporarily delay the launch scheduled for February 11.
The launch date for the public to enter Lost Ark has arrived. However, the highly anticipated isometric-view free-to-play MMORPG from Amazon Games and Smilegate has delayed its server startup, the Lost Ark development team announced.
Update 2: The servers are now active. Problems related to previously created characters have been fixed. Previously established limits on the creation of new characters are being lifted.
Update: The deployment issues behind Lost Ark have been fixed and the servers are now live as of 2:15PM PT. As compensation, it was announced that 3 days of Crystalline Aura will be added to all players who log in to the game between launch and 9 AM PT on February 13. However, when trying to log in, the North America West 2 servers are still "In Maintenance", while the third one, Mari, does not allow you to create characters if you are a new player. North America East servers are unavailable.
Starting problems
Although it was expected since last week that the servers for North America would start this Friday, February 11 at 9 AM PT, the launch has been postponed. Through its official blog, it was announced that "Due to deployment issues the Lost Ark launch is unfortunately delayed." The development team expects this to be resolved "in a matter of hours," although for now, they have not defined a time that players will have to wait to reach the world of Arkesia. Within the same blog, they ask to keep an eye on their social media for official information.
Just earlier this week, the servers were opened for those players who purchased the Founder's Pack which granted early access to the game. These versions include downloadable content, cosmetic content and all kinds of benefits, in addition to the three-day early access, divided into different tiers and prices.
Preparing for launch
Delaying the game's release is an understandable move. A few months ago, Amazon Games' previous release, New World, was heavily criticized as its wait times reached over 236 hours. While long wait times when it comes to MMORPGs become commonplace, especially when they bring the hype to its peak. Lost Ark's early access also had long waiting lines. This led the development team to make some adjustments, such as putting a limit on character creation by new players. For now, the character creation limit will remain "for the foreseeable future."
Ahead of today's scheduled free-to-play launch, the Lost Ark team announced that it would also open additional servers in each region "to help support the influx of new players and will continue to monitor to add more capacity as needed." However, there was no mention of how many servers would be added.
For now, these are the servers for North America:
NA West
NA East
When will Lost Ark be available for play?
For now, there is no timetable or date from the development team when the servers will start. The current recommendation is to wait for the announcement on the game's social media to be informed, and to be patient. On the other hand, you can always check the link to see the servers' status, although, at the moment, it is not available.
If you are interested in playing Lost Ark, don't forget to check the minimum and recommended requirements to be ready to play when they activate the servers.
