We help you choose the best character for your first run in Elden Ring, From Software's new RPG for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

Update:
Elden Ring: which class to choose and which is the best to start with

As part of our Elden Ring guide, in this article, we focus on the different character classes you can choose from. There are a total of 10, and while each of them has their pros and cons, as well as various pieces of gear to start with, we think this is an important choice, especially for players who don't have too much experience in other From Software titles. We recommend the best one to start with.

Wretch

This class is equivalent to Dark Souls' Deprived. This means that it starts at level 1 and has all attributes equal to level 10. It is the favorite selection for those players who want to customize their character as much as possible from the start. They hardly wear any armor -nor clothes- and have a club as a weapon. It is an interesting option, but not recommended for inexperienced users since the first fights will be harder than usual.

Which is the best class?

Elden Ring offers the possibility to develop our character with total freedom, something that we can take the opportunity to change the playstyle at any time, however, the initial class is the one that determines the way we fight during the first hours. All of them are valid and there is no wrong one, but we recommend starting with the ones that prioritize physical stats such as vigor, endurance, strength or dexterity. So we recommend you choose the Samurai.

The best thing about this class is that it comes standard equipped with both good armor and a weapon that all Dark Souls fans know very well: the Uchigatana, a very fast katana capable of bleeding the enemy after several hits. Moreover, as soon as you play for a couple of hours and start upgrading weapons, you will realize that it is very easy to level it up quickly.

Another interesting alternative is the Hero, thanks to its high levels of vigor and strength, in addition to carrying a powerful battle axe as an initial weapon.
