Update:
GTA 5 and GTA Online: how to transfer your PS4/Xbox One game to PS5/Xbox Series

GTA 5 and GTA Online are getting closer and closer to their release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, the third generation of consoles where you can enjoy a video game capable of exceeding 160 million units sold worldwide. Those who currently have Grand Theft Auto V and play both Story Mode and GTA Online and want to transfer their progress to PS5/Xbox Series will be able to do so without losing anything along the way. We explain.

How to transfer your GTA 5 and GTA Online character from PS4/Xbox One to PS5/Xbox Series

GTA 5 players on PS4 and Xbox One can now transfer their Single Player mode progress and their GTA Online characters and progress to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, or between platforms. The transfer is one-time migration and irreversible.

  1. To transfer your game you just need to upload a saved game to the Rockstar Games Social Club.
  2. To begin the process, start GTA 5 with your current console account.
  3. Then go to the Game tab in the pause menu.
  4. Choose Upload Saved Game.

The transfer includes characters, GTA$ (in this case only between consoles of the same family), progress, statistics, vehicles, properties, weapons, clothing and Player-Created Jobs.

There can be no more than one saved game per platform in the Rockstar Games Social Club. The game will be available to download for 90 days. It is already possible to make this transfer, although GTA 5 will not arrive on PS5 and Xbox Series until next week.

GTA 5 and GTA Online, release date on PS5 and Xbox X|S Series

Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox X|S Series on March 15; next Tuesday. The title thus reaches its third generation of consoles, but this time is where it will reach its definitive version by offering the ultra-quality graphics of the PC version with new graphic modes.

Specifically, three modes with up to 4K resolution, a refresh rate of up to 60 frames per second, improved texture quality, HDR options and ray tracing. In addition, reduced loading times, 3D surround sound and platform-specific features. The physical format version of the game is scheduled for release sometime this April.

For now, no mention has been made of the digital price of GTA 5 on the new generation of consoles, how much it will cost in physical format and how much users who already have the title on PS4 and/or Xbox One consoles will have to pay.
