Games of Thrones: titles of all confirmed spin-offs of the saga revealed

Author George R.R. Martin shares an update on his personal blog about the television future of the A Song of Ice and Fire franchise on HBO Max.

Update:
Games of Thrones: titles of all confirmed spin-offs of the saga revealed

The epic journey of Game of Thrones did not end with the eighth season of the series. HBO Max is working on several spin-offs that will continue to delve into the stories of the Seven Kingdoms. George R.R. Martin, author of the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, is working closely with those responsible for the series. Through his official blog, he has not only confirmed the titles of all the confirmed products, but also mentioned the showrunners behind the projects.

In addition to The House of the Dragon, which will premiere on HBO Max later this year 2022, many other works are outlined in the future. "I am dying to tell you all about them, but I am not supposed to, so...," he has written. "Well, maybe there a few things I can tell you. Things that HBO has previously announced, or hinted at, or... We are developing live action shows for HBO, and animated shows for HBO Max..." He declines to give an exact number and assures that he would love for many of them to see the light of day. He acknowledged, however, that "not all of them" will.

“Some of the ideas we are working on are quite different in tone and approach than what has gone before, and that thrills me. The world of Westeros (and Essos, etc) is huge, and there is room in it for many types of stories, about a wide range of characters.”

All the spin-off series of the Game of Thrones saga

This is the complete list with all the officially confirmed series and titles for each of these spin-off series of the Game of Thrones saga:

  1. House of the Dragon (showrunners: Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan Condal)
  2. The Sea Snake, previously titled 9 Voyages (showrunner: Bruno Heller)
  3. 10.000 Ships (showrunner: Amanda Segel)
  4. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms / The Hedge Knight, title undecided (showrunner: Steve Conrad)
  5. The Golden Empire, working title (showrunner not named)

Regarding the animated series, Martin has pointed out that he can't say anything beyond the fact that everything is moving very fast. "I love love love some of the concept art I am seeing." Some time ago it was leaked that one of the series was going to take place in Yi Ti, a piece of information that has turned out to be true: "Our working title is THE GOLDEN EMPIRE, and we have a great young writer on that one too, and I think the art and animation is just going to be beautiful."
