Flipendo?

Hogwarts Legacy | All spells confirmed in the game

The game set in the Harry Potter universe will allow us to perform all kinds of spells: some have already been revealed and these are all the ones we know.

Update:
Hogwarts Legacy | All spells confirmed in the game

In the classic Harry Potter titles developed by Electronic Arts, the young wizard used to attack his enemies with Flipendo, a spell that does not appear in the books or in the movies, so it is exclusive to those video games. Warner Bros. Games doesn’t seem to have rescued it for Hogwarts Legacy, but during the 14-minute gameplay, they presented some of the spells that we will learn during our stay at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

With the exception of an unidentified spell that allows you to brew potions, the rest of the powers have been taken directly from the novels and film adaptations. Here is a brief review of the spells that have been released so far. It is quite possible that the catalog will expand. And who knows, maybe Flipendo could be back.

  • Lumos
  • Protego
  • Reparo
  • Petrificus Totalus
  • Accio
  • Incendio
  • Expelliarmus/Descendo
  • Avada Kedavra

All spells confirmed

Lumos

The wizard's wand can be turned into a flashlight by simply uttering the word 'Lumus'. Automatically, the upper end lights up, as if it were a cell phone. If you add the word 'Maxima' the effect is even more powerful, since in this case an intense flash of light is produced. The latter has not been seen in the game.

Protego

Creates a protective shield that dampens enemy spells. In Hogwarts Legacy it is represented as a bubble that surrounds the protagonist for a certain, finite period of time.

Reparo

Hermione Granger used Reparo to fix Harry's glasses, which like everything the Dursleys gave him were in disrepair or reused. This enchantment has the power to fix almost any object. After the great wreckage of the Great Hall that the Death Eaters perpetrated years later during the Battle of Hogwarts, it is clear that they had to use Reparo everywhere.

Petrificus Totalus

An offensive type spell that completely paralyzes the victim. In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, right at the end of the book and movie, Neville Longbottom tries to stop his friends, who had previously been punished for leaving the dormitory at night (something strictly forbidden). Hermione paralyzes him in order to stop the theft of the stone.

Accio

This spell has been seen in the gameplay trailer and is one of the most important enchantments in Hogwarts Legacy's combat system. It provides the opportunity to draw objects and enemies towards the character. In combination with other spells, the results are intensified.

Incendio

A Muggle needs a match, a lighter or a more rudimentary method, but for wizards and witches, it is enough to say 'Incendio' for a flare of fire to come out of their wand, which in combat can burn cloth and flesh alike.

Expelliarmus/Descendo

In Hogwarts dueling the Expelliarmus spell is a textbook basic, but Defense Against the Dark Arts lessons can be put into practice in real wizard duels. This power rips the wand from the opponents' fingers and also launches the enemy into the air.

Avada Kedavra

Along with the Cruciatus Curse and the Imperius Curse, it is one of the Unforgivable Curses. If the green beam of light of the Avada Kedavra spell touches its victim it kills him instantly, without regard. This is the same spell used by Lord Voldemort to murder his victims, including Harry's parents.

Hogwarts Legacy will be released later this year on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch and PC. As of today, it is still unconfirmed whether the version for the hybrid of those from Kyoto is native or for the cloud. It is also unknown if you can upgrade to the new generation if you have the game on older consoles.
