Resident Evil unleashes zombie bloodshed in first trailer for its live-action series
Umbrella Corporation uncovers its best-kept secrets in this live-action adaptation of Capcom's successful video game franchise. Coming soon to Netflix.
It's zombie time. Netflix promised a trailer and we can finally take a first look at Resident Evil, the long-awaited live-action series starring Lance Reddick, who plays the devious Albert Wesker. In the video, which you can see at the end of this paragraph, we glimpse the before and after. Umbrella has turned Raccoon City into a ticking time bomb, only with zombies and biological weapons. Contrast the scenes of happiness at the beginning with the scenes of laboratories and the subsequent chaos that is unleashed.
In addition to Lance Reddick, Resident Evil features a cast led by Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph and Paola Nunez. Andrew Dabb serves as the showrunner of a series that will feature a first season of 8 episodes. Each episode will last a total of one hour.
The Umbrella Secrets
Three decades have passed since T-Virus was discovered, but a deadly new outbreak threatens to uncover Umbrella Corporation's darkest secrets. The new live-action series produced by Netflix will star Albert Wesker and his daughters, Jade and Billie. In the first timeline, the story takes us to the past, when the sisters move to New Raccoon City.
The city, built by and for the interests of the shady company, harbors those years in the girls' lives. As time goes by, they realize that the city is "more than it seems" and that their father may be hiding secrets that could destroy the world. As you might guess, they are not too far off the mark in their suspicions.
“There are less than fifteen million people left on Earth. And more than six billion monsters – people and animals infected with the T-virus,” says the synopsis of the second timeline. “Jade, now thirty, struggles to survive in this New World, while the secrets from her past - about her sister, her father, and herself - continue to haunt her.”
When will Resident Evil premiere?
Resident Evil will premiere on Netflix on July 14. Fans of the franchise can also enjoy Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, a CGI animated series that is available on the same platform.
Capcom has updated its release schedule for 2022. Several of the projects related to its horror and action saga will be released during this period. Thus, the multiplayer title Resident Evil Re:Verse, which was delayed last year, will finally see the light of day. It will be available for free to all those who have purchased a copy of Resident Evil Village.
On the other hand, the Japanese company plans to release the Village expansion, about which nothing is known yet. Another new feature is the free next-gen patch for Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, which will be available at no additional cost for those who own the titles on PS4, Xbox One or PC.
