Fall Guys free-to-play in June; launching on Xbox, Switch and Epic Games Store

Fall Guys announces its transition to a free-to-play game, and also reveals its release date on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and the Epic Games Store. The change to free-to-play model will also affect the Steam and PS4 versions. Below we tell you all the details:

Fall Guys comes free to Epic Games Store, Xbox and Switch in June

The big Fall Guys announcement took place at 1 pm ET on Monday, May 16, 2022. However, said announcement also had a presentation inside a Fortnite Creative map, propitiated to the early leak of the official information. However, the information is now official: Fall Guys will be released on the Epic Games Store, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on June 21 for free.

The PS4 edition will also become free; we will have to update our game to the new version. On the other hand, the Steam version will no longer be available for new players; those who bought it at the time will be able to play it without problems, but new players will only be able to play Fall Guys on PC by downloading it from the Epic Games Store.

Other interesting information announced:

  • PlayStation 5 will receive its own version of Fall Guys. It will run at 4K 60 FPS.
  • All versions of Fall Guys will have cross-play and shared progress.
  • The Nintendo Switch version will be playable in Dock mode (1080p 30 FPS) and Portable mode (720p 30 FPS).
  • Fall Guys on Xbox One will run at 1080p 30 FPS, on Xbox One X it will run at 1080p 60 FPS, on Xbox Series S it will run at 1440p 60 FPS and on Xbox Series X it will run at 4K 60 FPS.
  • Xbox Game Pass members will receive one free Fall Guys skin per month for the first three months of launch.
  • Players who paid for the base game at the time, before it was F2P, will receive a Legacy Pack that includes three skins, a nickname and a nameplate.
  • Crowns can no longer be spent in the store; they will be used for Crown Rank Rewards.
  • Kudos remain, and players will be able to redeem their unspent Crowns for Kudos.
  • There will be an Ezio Auditore skin from Assassin's Creed.
  • There will be a Godzilla skin.
  • There will be a Pusheen skin.
  • A map editor is coming to Fall Guys.
  • There will be additional rewards for registering on the pre-registration website.
  • There will be new skins and levels.

We understand that this transition to a free-to-play model was prompted by Epic Games' purchase of Mediatonic, which finally takes effect on June 21, 2022. Whether this move benefits Fall Guys, only time will tell.
