PlayStation officially welcomes Bungie following deal completion

Sony and Destiny’s creators celebrate the agreement between the two parties through an official announcement: Bungie is now part of the PlayStation family.

Update:
PlayStation officially welcomes Bungie following deal completion

After the announcement earlier this year of the purchase of Bungie by PlayStation, Sony has finally made official the acquisition of the studio responsible for such iconic franchises as Halo or Destiny. This has been published by PlayStation through an announcement on its usual channels, announcing that Bungie is now part of the PlayStation family, with the subsequent celebration of Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, and Bungie itself.

PlayStation x Bungie: the agreement is now official

“The agreement to acquire Bungie has closed. So now we can officially say… welcome to the PlayStation family!”, wrote PlayStation on its official Twitter account. Bungie also wanted to celebrate the deal with the following statement: "We are proud to officially join the incredible team at PlayStation, we are excited for the future of our company, and we are inspired to bring together players from all over the world to form lasting friendships and memories."

Quoting from Bungie's own tweet, Hermen Hulst said, "I have always admired Bungie’s ambitious, ground-breaking games and their focus on creativity, craft and community. I can't wait to spend more time with Pete Parsons, Jason Jones and their team as we chart a bold course for SIE, PlayStation Studios, and Bungie together," a statement of intent for the future.

Recall that the acquisition of Bungie by PlayStation amounts to 3.6 billion dollars. Despite this purchase, this does not mean that Bungie will become part of PlayStation Studios as such, but will continue as an independent subsidiary company, being able to publish its video games on other platforms outside PlayStation.
