New Steam mobile app adds long-awaited features; how to download and test the beta

With the intent to improve processes, streamline navigation and offer a better quality of life to the user, the new version of the app is very promising.

Gamers who use the Steam client on PC have been combining the platform with the Android and iOS mobile app for many years. A way to streamline some processes, connect with friends and enjoy various options when sharing content and exploring the store. However, Valve wants to improve this and is already working on a new version that brings very interesting and demanded features by the community.

The main new feature is the option to log in by scanning a QR code, something that offers immediacy compared to the process of entering your full account details. The improvements in the library of purchased games and in notifications, along with the possibility of linking several Steam accounts on the same device are its main new features.

How to test the new Steam app on your mobile?

The Android (Google Play) and iPhone (Apple Store) stores have additional steps that you must follow depending on your device. Also, in the case of Apple, the company specifies that the trial is limited to the first 10,000 users who complete the process. Here are the links to each site.

In addition, if you want to test the QR code login, you must first activate the Steam beta mode on your PC. To do this you must access the client as usual, navigate to the menu Settings > Account > Beta participation > Change and finally, confirm the decision. Finally, Valve has asked users to comment any bugs or suggestions on the application's official forums (you can access at this link).

Steam Deck confirms new models in the future
