The Silent Hill saga returns with a bang: all announcements confirmed

Konami's event dedicated to the Silent Hill franchise proves that its future is guaranteed. It goes beyond the remake of the second installment: new brands, a feature film... We review what the return of the mythical horror title in video games has brought.

Silent Hill 2 Remake

Bloober Team will be in charge of resurrecting what for many is one of the best horror video games in history. Those responsible for Layers of Fear, Blair Witch, and The Medium (among others) will bring James Sunderland to the new generation. It does not have a release date, but what we do know is what platforms it will reach: PS5 and PC. It will be temporarily exclusive on the console for at least 12 months.

Masahiro Ito and Akira Yamaoka are closely involved in the project. They both offer assistance to Bloober Team in order to bring it to fruition. The camera will be over the shoulder and the gameplay will be modernized. What does this mean compared to the classic Survival Horror? We'll find out later.

Silent Hill F

The surprise of the night (with permission from the remake). Silent Hill F will be the new installment by right of the saga. Neobards Entertainment, who are behind Resident Evil Reverse, will bring terror to a typical Japanese village in the 60s. The story is written by Ryukishi07, the creator of visual novels such as Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Umineko no Naku Koro ni, where intrigue is the protagonist. Watching the teaser will make you feel the terror right down to your bones. We will know more details in the future.

Silent Hill Townfall

The third videogame of the night has nothing less than the seal of Annapurna Interactive. No Code, who already published their own developments such as Stories Untold and Observation, will be in charge of transforming horror into their playable style. In this case, not a single bit of information has been revealed. During its teaser trailer, we only see a transistor accompanied by several enigmatic images.

Silent Hill Ascension

The franchise moves to new frontiers. Genvid will be in charge of bringing Silent Hill to the small screen. Silent Hill Ascension will be an interactive streaming series in which "the community will shape the canon" of the saga. We do not know on which platforms or services it will be released, although those responsible for it say it will be published on July 27, 2023.

Return to Silent Hill

Cristophe Gans will once again step behind the camera to direct a new installment of the franchise on the big screen. Return to Silent Hill will be a live-action adaptation of Silent Hill 2. Its producers anticipate that "new audiences want to experience again" what the brand has to offer, this being the main fuel for it to be greenlit. The creature designs will be similar to the originals, but with a slight fresh twist. There will also be new aspects that will renew the already-known repertoire. Filming will begin next year.
