Marvel is right on time to celebrate Halloween with a new Spider-Man Comic that features the darkest and creepiest version of the hero we’ve ever seen. Titled Deadly Neighborhood Spider-Man, this story has been written by Taboo (The Black Eyed Peas) and B. Earl, with art by Juan Ferreyra and cover art by Rahzzah. We also have an animated trailer backed by and original hip hop song by Taboo that you can find right here.

Here comes Deadly Spider-Man

“What is reality and what is dream? What is science and what is magic? At the intersection of all of this stands the Deadly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Peter Parker goes to Los Angeles and what he finds there are definitely not angels. The demons waiting for Peter are going to test him like never before. One demon in particular, a very famous one for Marvel and X-fans in particular, might just eat Spider-Man alive,” says the official synopsis

What they seem to be talking about is none other than Demon Bear, a spectral bear that has previously appeared in several Marvel Stories and that now seems to be going after Peter Parker. “It was an absolute ‘Fanboy’ dream come true for B. Earl and I to work with our amazing team made up of Juan Ferreyra, and editors Devin Lewis, Thomas Groneman, and Nick Lowe,” Taboo said. “As a Native/Mexican kid from East Los Angeles, I never would have dreamed I would be creating stories with Marvel Comics—let alone getting to co-write and bring DEADLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN to my city of Pasadena, California!!!”.

All of this is because for both writers, this comic is a tribute to 80s horror movies; the were also inspired by songs like A Nightmare on My Street by Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince and Children’s Story by Slick Rick, amongst others. The first of 5 issues of Deadly Neighborhood Spider-Man releases this october.
