Avatar: The Way of Water calls the drums of war to be the last great release of the year in its new trailer

Avatar: The Way of Water has shared its official trailer only a month and a half to go before its release, set for December 16 2022. Cameron is finishing up his work.

Avatar: The Way of Water is preparing the drums of war for the return of the James Cameron Epic to the big screen. The long awaited sequel now has an oficial trailer, which goes over life in Pandora after the events of the original movie. From the apparent peace of its inhabitants, the tone shifts to chaos as we look at a planet full of conflict. You won’t have to wait too long to watch it: it’s out December 16 in movie theaters worldwide.

A movie “you experience”

Jon Landau, the film’s producer, said to MeriStation what the creative viewpoint was supposed to be for the audience: “People say they have seen a movie. I want them to say that they experienced a movie.” Landau shared that they want to use this release as a “catalyst” that helps remind people “how unique cinema can be.”

It also doesn’t seem to be coming to Disney+ soon: “This movie is going to be for the big screen, that’s a promise we adopted with our friends and partners at Disney, who support and understand it,” he said. Why is it coming in 2022? A decade after the original (2009 is a long time ago) is a long time for a brand that already had announced itself as a saga. Landau argued that they wanted to take their time with the sequel to “do it right”.

The cast is led by Zoe Saldana, who plays the warrior Neytiri. She’s accompanied by JAmie Flatters (Neteyam), Michelle Yeoh (Dr. Karina Mogue), Sigourney Weaver (Kiri), Kate Winslet (Ronal), Bailey Bass (Tsireya), Sam Worthington (Jake Sully), Stephen Lang (Miles Quaritch), Giovanni Ribisi (Parker Elfridge), Jemaine Clement (Dr. IAn Garvin), Oona Chaplin (Varang), Edie Falco (General Frances Ardmore), Cliff Curtis (Tonowari), Joel David Moore, Chloe Coleman, Jack Champion and Matt Gerald, amongst others.
