Fortnite Chapter 4: when can I start playing the new season?

The Fortnite Fracture finale event is over, and Fortnite has gone into preparations for Chapter 4’s Season 1. What time does it begin?

Update:
Fortnite Chapter 4: when can I start playing the new season?

On Saturday, December 3 of 2022 the Fracture finale event took place, ending Season 4 of Fortnite Chapter 3. Since then, Epic Games has closed off the game’s servers to go into maintenance mode in preparations for the start of Chapter 4. Many of us have been left asking the same questions: when does Fortnite Chapter 4 start? When can I begin playing with the new content?

What time does Fortnite Chapter 4 begin? Date and time

Season 1 of Fortnite Chapter 4 begins on Sunday December 4, 2022. Its scheduled downtime was set to begin right after Chapter 3’s finale. While there is no exact time for when the servers will be up and playable again, the developers usually start opening everything up between 1 AM and 7 AM Pacific. This means:

  • 1 AM - 7 AM PT, December 4
  • 2 AM - 8 AM Central , December 4
  • 4 AM - 10 AM ET, December 4

However, this was just an estimate, since there are a wide variety of reasons why the service could have been delayed. Given that this downtime is performed in order to update the game servers with a ton of new content, the official time tends to be subject to change. But thankfully, if you’re reading this right now then you won’t have to wait much, since the patch is officially out.

This means that you can actually enter Fortnite right now in whatever platform you prefer and download Patch 23.00. After you download it there will still be a wait for maintenance that may be superior to three or even four hours, so you’d best get to it as soon as possible.

What you can do right now is watch Fortnite Chapter 4’s launch trailer, which reveals glimpses of the new island where the battle royale will take place, as well as some of the new guests that are crossing over to the game. We can see Geralt of Rivia wielding the new Shockwave Hammer, the Doom Slayer playing with his tiny toy version right before dropping a few opponents with the new rifle, the Ex-Caliber, and even Deku unleashing the power of One-For-All and demolishing an entire castle with a single punch.
