Joker 2 shows the first glimpse of Joaquin Phoenix in Arkham Asylum; filming has begun
Director Todd Phillips has shared the first official image from the highly anticipated film, which will feature Lady Gaga in the role of Harley Quinn.
There's still a long way to go before October 4, 2024, the scheduled release date for Joker 2: Folie à Deux, the long-awaited musical sequel to the 2019 film. A real success that managed to place among the 50 films that boast of having exceeded $1 billion in the box office. With Todd Phillips at the helm of the direction, Joaquin Phoenix in the skin of the Joker and Lady Gaga in that of Harley Quinn, we are talking about one of the most anticipated releases among fans of the DC universe.
However, as the days go by and the year ends, we are getting news related to this sequel from its director. One is that filming has begun, and the other is that we already have the first official image of it, in which we see Joaquin Phoenix in the Arkhan Asylum, one of the most iconic scenarios of the mythos of the Dark Knight.
Joker 2: Folie à Deux: what do we know about the sequel?
Although it's still early days and the film has no special synopsis, some details have been shared over the past few months to give us a glimpse of what to expect. If we take a look at the 2019 film, in the final scenes we see Joker fleeing from the psychiatric hospital, and both Phillips and Phoenix himself have already commented that they would love to see "how far the character could go".
Something to keep in mind is the name of the film and its meaning: Folie à Deux is the description of a mental condition that refers to simultaneous madness, in which the distortion of reality is experienced by more than one person at the same time. However, the disorder is born in a single mind, while another - or several - are infected and reach the same state. In light of this, it is logical to think that we will see Joker spreading his delusions to someone else. In any case, we will have to wait almost two years to see it; we hope it will be much less to learn new details.
