It's official: Ash Ketchum is retiring after fulfilling their dream of becoming Pokémon Master. We share with you the first details of the upcoming Pokémon anime, including an Ash miniseries and two exclusive episodes, and everything we know about the upcoming Paldea series, the Scarlet & Violet region:

Ash Ketchum bids farewell to Pokémon anime in style: episode and miniseries confirmed

The airing of the final episode of the Pokémon Ultimate Journeys anime in Japan has revealed some juicy news for the future of the series. After becoming a Pokémon Master, Ash Ketchum and his faithful Pikachu say goodbye to the anime. But he won't do it just any old way, as we will have more episodes to celebrate the hero of Pallet Town. An episode about his life that recalls his most iconic moments will air next week, on December 23.

In addition to this, Ash Ketchum will star in an 11-episode miniseries detailing how he become a Pokémon Master that will air in Japan starting in January 2023. These episodes will feature popular Pokémon and characters such as Misty and Brock, and will provide a glimpse into what the future holds for the world's greatest Trainer as the adventures of Ash and his Pikachu come to a close.

First details on the new Pokémon Scarlet & Violet anime

Ash Ketchum retires and makes way for the new generations. The next season of the Pokémon anime focuses on Paldea, the region of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, based in Spain. It premieres in April 2023 in Japan.

Liko and Roy are the main characters of this new anime. A press release from The Pokémon Company clarifies that the new anime will feature Paldea's first companions, Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly, protagonists of the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet video games, as well as the legendary Pokémon Rayquaza in its Shiny form.

As you can see, the future of Pokémon anime comes loaded with news. After 25 years, Ash Ketchum finally passes the baton to the new generations after achieving his dream of becoming a Pokémon Master.
