PlayStation Plus January 2023 free games for PS5 and PS4 confirmed

Updated - December 28, 2022

PlayStation has just confirmed their selection of free games to be given away to all subscribers of PlayStation Plus, from the Essential Tier all the way up to Deluxe. As it turns out, the leaks were 100% correct, and we're all getting Star Wars Jedi:: Fallen Order, Fallout 76, and Axiom Verge 2 at the start of the coming month.

What follow is the original story:

Billbilkun is a Deadlabs user that for a while now has been leaking - without mistakes - the PlayStation Plus titles that join the service ahead of time in an unofficial manner. With Christmas breathing down our necks, and many of us thinking about the year ahead, he’s done it again: we now know the free games of PS Plus Essential that’ll be available in January of 2023 for PS5 and PS4. Take a look for yourself.

PS Plus games for January 2023: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and more

With the long awaited Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in the near horizon (launching on PC and consoles on March 15), offering Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a great option for players to enjoy the first adventure in the series, released back in 2019. What to expect? An amazing 3D metroidvania with light Soulslike combat that embodies the Star Wars Universe in an incredible way.

Another name you should pay attention to on the list is Axiom Verge 2, sequel to one of the most acclaimed indie metroidvanias of the past decade. In this sequel, hand to hand combat takes precedence over ranged weapons and you’re able to explore the world from two distinct perspectives: the physical world and a digital mirror. With two entries that share similarities, but that change up the mechanics so heavily, we can safely say that we have an amazing franchise in the making.

Last but not least, you can’t ignore Fallout 76, the multiplayer RPG spin-off of the post-apocalyptic franchise that, while it didn’t have good time at launch due to a hefty amount of issues, bugs, glitches and more, has been worked on nonstop for the last few years to create a title worthy of player’s time and attention. The studio behind it has tirelessly patched and updated the title to expand the game’s world with tons of new content, so now might be as good a time as any to jump in and discover what Appalachia has to offer.
