We now know how long each of the nine episodes of HBO’s newest series is, which adapts the entirety of the first The Last of Us game made by Naughty Dog.
The Last of Us, the much anticipated live-action adaptation of Naughty Dog’s video game franchise, is finally launching this Sunday January 15 through HBO Max. We now know how long each of the nine episodes in the first season is, and can definitely say that we’ll have plenty of time to watch Joel and Ellie in action for a while, since most of the episodes are close to the 60 minute mark, while some even go way beyond that.
The Last of Us on HBO Max: episode running time
As we mentioned before, the first season of The Last of Us on HBO Max will consist of 9 episodes total. Coming up next, you’ll be able to see exactly how long each episode goes for:

- Episode 2: 53 minutes
- Episode 3: 76 minutes
- Episode 4: 46 minutes
- Episode 5: 59 minutes

As you can observe, both the first and third episodes go beyond the hour mark for their duration. Let’s hope that all of this is enough time for the show to guide us through the story without feeling rushed, and leaving enough space for its protagonists to develop the relationship that is central to the franchise.
The Last of Us debuts this Sunday on HBO Max with its first episode, and a new episode will be released every week after that.
