GoldenEye 007 has surprised all of us by revealing an incredibly soon release date on Xbox, Xbox Game Pass, and Nintendo Switch Online this very week.

Update:
GoldenEye 007 reveals a surprise release date for this week on Xbox and Nintendo Switch

The long wait is finally over. GoldenEye 007 is arriving this January 27, 2023 to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. That very same day it will be integrated into the Xbox Game Pass subscription service, while on Nintendo’s hybrid console it’ll be part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass service. On the other hand, those that already own a digital copy on Xbox thanks to Rare Replay will be able to get the game at no extra cost.

What’s new in this version of GoldenEye 007?

GoldenEye 007 offers some different options to play depending on which system you’re playing on. For example, the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass version comes packed with the ability to play online co-op with up to 4 players, something that is exclusive to the Nintendo 64 console emulation on the platform.

While the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One version only has local splitscreen multiplayer, it includes some other advantages that improve the game on a technical level. GoldenEye 007 on Xbox consoles will play at a 16:9 aspect ratio, with native 4K resolution on compatible screens. It will also come with achievements and offer “alternative control options.”

Xbox has stated that some territories will receive the game during January 26, on a rolling global launch until the 27th. After months of silence since its reveal back in November 2022, Rare’s classic finally marked its launch date on the calendar.
