Respawn Entertainment

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has been delayed six weeks

Fans will have to wait for a while more before Star Wars Jedi: Survivor releases, as Respawn Entertainment has announced a six week delay until April.

Update:
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has been delayed six weeks

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has been officially delayed by EA and Respawn Entertainment, with the sequel adding six weeks to its development time. The new title will now release on April 28.

The announcement was made through the game’s official social media channels, with a message written by director Stig Asmussen in which he explains the reason for the added wait time. The good news is that this delay is not due to missing content, but to quality assurance, as the team works on polishing the game in general with stability, performance, and bug fixes, among other things. Below you'll find the complete statement:

"For the last three years, the Jedi team here at Respawn has poured its collective heart and soul into Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and we are proud to say the next chapter in the tale of Cal Kestis is content complete. We are now focused entirely on the final stage: bug fixes to enhance performance, stability, polish, and most importantly, the player experience."

"Jedi: Survivor is a direct response to the feedback from our community, delivering expansive destinations to explore, evolved combat and traversal, and of course, the continuation of Cal and BD’s story. Making this game has truly made us a better team, and we have pushed ourselves at every level to make this the Star Wars sequel our fans expect from Respawn and Lucasfilm Games."

"In order for the team to hit the Respawn quality bar, provide the team the time they need, and achieve the level of polish our fans deserve, we have added six crucial weeks to our release schedule - Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will now launch globally on April 28th."

"Thanks to EA and Respawn for giving us the time to deliver the best experience for our players, and to all of you for your understanding."

The Force could use some more time

Jedi: Survivor was originally set to release on March 17, 2023. However, it seems like the title still needs a little bit of extra work before its developers feel it’s ready for the public. For fans of the first game released in 2019, this might be good news. While the game was regarded as one of the best Star Wars titles of the past few years, critics were still quite harsh on the title’s shortcomings. This additional development time is sure to bring a new level of polish to the game, and while we’re sad to have to wait a little longer, we’re glad that Respawn is able to fix the game before launch instead of through patches and hotfixes.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will now launch on April 28, 2023, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
