James Gunn discards the idea of selling the Snyderverse to Netflix

James Gunn, co-director of DC Studios and the new DC Universe, breaks the silence about fans’ petition of selling the Snyderverse to Netflix.

Update:
James Gunn discards the idea of selling the Snyderverse to Netflix

After James Gunn took the reins of the new DC universe, the reactions of the fans did not take long to appear. There are those who are very strong defendants of the Snyderverse -which includes films like Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, Wonder Woman and more - who want it to be preserved and continued, and for this, they have stormed Twitter with the hashtag #SellSnyderverseToNetflix. This would mean more than just the fact that all of these movies would be transferred to the streaming platform: in addition, by selling certain licenses, it would mean that Snyder could continue with his original plans for the DC Universe.

But the reality is that James Gunn is in charge of it, and not only is he not very interested in the subject, but he has revealed that neither is Snyder himself. “I have to say, this has got to be the wackiest hashtag ever since 1) Netflix hasn’t expressed any such interest (although we’ve discussed other stuff) & 2) Zack hasn’t expressed any interest & seems to be happy doing what he’s doing (and, yes, we too have talked),” Gunn said on Twitter

“He contacted me to express his support about my choices. He’s a great guy. Again, he seems really happy with the massive world building he’s doing now.”

Snyder's project on Netflix

Meanwhile, Zack Snyder's plans on Netflix continue, and there are not just a few of them. The director's collaboration with the platform started in 2021 with Army of the Dead, and the next one will be Rebel Moon. Before that, it launched the prequel to the first, Army of Thieves, to which various spin offs of the zombie franchise will be added. Among them is Planet of the Dead, which this time will be a sequel, and Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, as well as The Twilight of the Gods, an animated series set in Norse mythology.
