Diablo 4 confirms its open beta dates
Blizzard Entertainment is getting close to the release of Diablo 4, and has now revealed when the open beta will take place ahead of its June launch.
Things are about to get hellish. Blizzard Entertainment revealed during IGN Fest that Diablo IV will start its open beta period soon. Through a trailer, the studio announced that players will be able to immerse themselves in their world of fantasy and role-playing from March 24-26.
Joe Shely, game director, has explained that the beta will not have a play time limit and that the character will be able to reach level 25. This build will incorporate pretty much the first story arc of Diablo IV, although the developer has not clarified whether or not the progress will carry over to the final version.
Those who purchase the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition will have the opportunity to get early access to the game from June 2. In addition, they will also be able to enjoy the open beta a few days before, from March 17 to 19. This will of course allow you to continue playing in the open beta.
Will PS Plus and Xbox Live Gold be required to play?
The game page on PlayStation Store suggests that you will have to be subscribed to this type of service to enjoy the experience. It was discovered at the end of January and to this day it is still listed as a requirement, although we will have to wait for the developer to make an official statement.
Diablo IV has suffered from problems linked to the accusations of sexual and labor harassment within Activision Blizzard. As a consequence, several key members of the studio left Blizzard Entertainment, including the president of the company. Meanwhile, Microsoft continues to work on convincing agencies around the world that the purchase of Activision Blizzard will not affect the market negatively.
Diablo IV will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC this June 6. You can read our first impressions here.
