New Pokémon anime receives first trailer

Liko, Roy and company give a first glimpse of what the long-running anime has in store for us now that the Pallet Town champion has retired.

Update:
New Pokémon anime receives first trailer

Ash Ketchum and Pikachu's adventure is coming to an end. The champion and hero of Pallet Town is on his last leg, but as announced late last year, the Pokémon anime will continue with new characters, as seen in this first trailer for the anime, which you can watch below.

Welcome to Paldea

In just under 50 seconds, we get a deeper look at the new characters we've been introduced to since December: Liko and Roy, as well as Friede, who is revealed to be a Pokémon Professor, and his partner, Captain Pikachu. Some details about these characters are briefly revealed, including their motivations for embarking on a Pokémon adventure, with Liko showing a strong determination to do things on her own, while Roy seeks to become the strongest by challenging the Pokémon of Legends.

At the same time, we get a brief animated look at Paldea, the region introduced in the recent Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, as well as some of its Pokémon and characters yet to be discovered. The trailer ends by mentioning that the first episode will be a one-hour special, and also reminds us that the new series will premiere in Japan on April 14, as announced in mid-February.

The future of Pokémon in 2023

Of course, the new anime won't be the only thing coming from Pokémon this year, and in 2023 we'll have Pocket Monsters coming our way. This week we had Pokémon Presents, where we got a glimpse of the many things we can expect from the franchise, with the 2023 Pokémon World Championships in Yokohama, Japan being one of the highlights of the year.

During this presentation, we also learned more about Pokémon Sleep, an application for smartphones that will help us measure and improve our sleep habits. Also, the recent Pokémon Scarlet & Violet will not be left behind and will receive The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC this year, which will be divided into two parts and will introduce Pokémon to the Paldea region.
