2022 World Series Game 3 Postponed: New Schedule

Our live coverage was short-lived today, but from tomorrow night we will give you all of the insight that we can, with our coverage starting aproximately one hour before the first pitch. Join us then and we will give you all the World Series action as it happens.

New Schedule

So Game 3 will now take place tomorrow, same Bat-time, same Bat-channel.

There will be no change in venue, with Games 3, 4, and 5 all being played in Philadelphia before moving back to Texas if necessary.

Officially cancelled

It looks like it is official now...

Reports are dribbling in that the rain is meant to continue for quite some time, so there is a real possibility that the Game may be moved to tomorrow.

We are following along and will report all that we hear as it comes to us.

Rain Delay

With the weather closing in on the Philadelphia area, the game is currently in a rain delay. Opening pitch is scheduled for less than 45 minutes from now, but that definitely won't happen.

• In postseason series with the current 2-3-2 format, teams splitting the first two games at home have still gone on to win 47 of 86 times (55%). The split obviously means there is a great deal at stake in Game 3. In all best-of-seven series tied 1-1, the winner of the third game has triumphed 68 of 98 times (69%).

• The Astros are 6-6 all-time on the road in the World Series, having won five of their last seven Fall Classic games away from home.

• The Astros are 2-9 in their last 11 games at Citizens Bank Park, having played two series there (2014 and 2017) since moving to the AL in 2013.

The lineups will see Houston keep its shape, with David Hensley likely getting an outing at DH in light of the limited effect both Aledmys Diaz and Trey Mancini have had in the first two games.

Philly will go back to the lineup that saw them win Game 1 and hope that some of that magic will rub off on tonight’s game.

On the other side of the chalk, the Phillies will be starting Noah Syndergaard, a bona-fide ace when he is on, but showing his limits of late, not going more than three innings into a game in more than a month. Rob Thomson acknowledges this will be the expectation of his and Phillies fans can expect this game to be a bullpen job.

Despite spending most of the season recuperating from a flexor tendon strain, he is widely regarded as one of the best postseason starters in the game. Houston manager Dusty Baker has no doubts that he is the man for the job, saying, “This is a very big game. I figure he can keep the ball in the ballpark pretty good with his sinker and his slider. He holds runners on pretty good; they generally try to run a lot. I think he deserves it.”

Even Houston starting pitcher Lance McCullers is pumped for the game, saying, “Really looking forward to experiencing the crowd. I’ve heard a lot about it. I'm a really big fan of the game, and I think it will be a great moment.”

First game in Philadelphia

The enthusiastic home crowd is expected to play a significant part in the proceedings, with Kyle Schwarber saying, “We feel like it’s another element that a visiting team is going to have to go through. They have been great through this whole postseason.”
