2023 MLB All-Star voting: When does Phase 2 begin and end? How can I vote?
We take a look at how you can have a say in the starting lineup for the 2023 MLB All Star game in Phase 2 of the fan voting process.
Now that the nearly month-long fan voting process for the 2023 MLB All-Star Gme has come to an end, the top vote-getters enter into Phase 2 of the process: determining the starting lineup.
Don’t worry, though, you won’t have to wait another month to find out. The 2023 All-Star Game takes place at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park on July 11th, so voting in Phase two will be limited to just four days.
Beginning at noon Eastern Time on Monday, June 26th, fans can cast their vote for who they believe should be in the starting lineup in each league. With just one vote permitted per fan per 24-hour period, the Phase will close at noon Eastern Time on Thursday, June 29th. The ballot can be found on MLB’s website.
The top two vote-getters overall, Ronald Acuña Jr in the National League and Shohei Ohtani in the American League, have been guaranteed a spot in the opening lineup. Acuña will start in the outfield while Ohtani will start as the Designated Hitter.
All other positions will offer fans a choice of only one of the top two vote getters apart from the outfield, where fans will vote for three of the top six vote getters. In the National League, there will be only two of the top five voted for, since Acuña already occupies one of the outfield positions.
Fans do not vote for the pitchers in the All-Star Game, those are chosen by the managers. Traditionally the managers of last year’s World Series, this year will see Dusty Baker from the Astros face off with Rob Thomson from the Phillies.
