The votes are in through Phase 1 of the MLB All-Star voting process and Phase 2 will kick off in a few hours, at noon Eastern. The top overall vote-winners were Ronald Acuña Jr in the National League and Shohei Ohtani in the American League, who both have clinched a spot in the starting lineup.
Acuña received 3,082,600 votes, the most overall, and Ohtani was not trailing far behind with 2,646,307 votes.
For the rest of the All-Star field, the top two vote recipients at each position will advance to Phase 2 to determine the starting lineup. In the outfield it will be the top six players who advance.
Fans do not vote for starting pitchers, who will be selected by the two managers: Dusty Baker (Astros) for the American League and Rob Thomson (Phillies) for the National League.
Phase 2 will continue from today until noon ET on Thursday and fans can only vote once per 24-hour period.
