With a roster led by former MLB infielders Tzu-Wei Lin and Yu-Cheng Chang, and a bullpen of MLB talent, Taiwan are a perennial favorite to make a deep run in the competition. Working out of Pool A, they will compete in their own home field against the Netherlands, Cuba, Italy, and Panama.

With lower back tightness, right hander Jen-Ho Tseng pulled out of the competition at late notice and was replaced by Che-Yuan Wu, another right hander from the CTBC Brothers in Taiwan’s top league. He joins a bullpen loaded with former MLB arms such as Rays right hander Chih-Wei Hu and Athletics lefty Wei-Chung Wang. Giants right hand prospect Kai-Wei Teng is also notable in that rotation.
