If you need any metrics by which to measure the strength of Team Dominican Republic, they have a Cy Young winner in their rotation and the reigning American League Rookie of the Year in their lineup. Add to that some of the best baseball players on the planet and you have a strong contender for a championship team. They won it back in 2013 and repeating that feat is not at all beyond this team’s reach.

Veteran Robinson Canó will likely be the Designated Hitter for this team but even if he plays off the bench, his wisdom and experience will add to an infield squad that may be the best in the game, not just this competition. Gold Glove winner Jeremy Peña is almost certain to be the solid short stop, but there could be a middle infield rotation between him, Marte, Segura, Adames, and Franco, depending on the lineup that they will be facing. That is a strong position to be in for any team.
