2024 MLB All-Star Game: Who’s participating in the Home Run Derby?

The lineup for the 2024 Home Run Derby is on fire, featuring a mix of rookies and veterans, including a two-time champ. Here’s a look at all eight.

Baseball fans everywhere get pumped for this event every year, knowing they’ll be wowed by some serious power hitting and leave with stories to tell. This year’s Home Run Derby lineup is packed with stars, featuring a mix of rising young talents and seasoned heavy hitters. Plus, with some new rules in play, things are going to get really interesting. And to top it off, one of the participants has a shot at making history by tying the record for the most Derby wins ever.

Alec Bohm, Philadelphia Phillies (3B)

Making his first Derby appearance, Bohm isn’t typically known for power but is having a breakout season. He’s earned his first All-Star nod and boasts the second-highest RBI total in the NL.

2024 stats: .292, 11 HR, 73 RBIs

Career home runs: 55

Pete Alonso, New York Mets (1B)

Alonso is gunning for a historic third Derby win, which would tie him with Ken Griffey Jr. An All-Star for the third straight year, he continues to be one of the top first basemen in the game.

2024 stats: .240, 18 HR, 48 RBIs

Career home runs: 210

José Ramírez, Cleveland Guardians (3B)

In his sixth All-Star Game and second Derby, Ramírez has been one of the league’s best, with four top-ten MVP finishes and two Silver Sluggers.

Gunnar Henderson, Baltimore Orioles (SS)

The 2023 MLB Rookie of the Year and first-time All-Star is making his Derby debut. Henderson is already surpassing his rookie home run total with 27 dingers before the break.

Adolis García, Texas Rangers (OF)

Back for his second Derby, García aims to advance past the first round. Despite a challenging season, he remains a fan favorite and joins Alex Rodriguez as the only Rangers with multiple Derby appearances.

Teoscar Hernández, Los Angeles Dodgers (OF)

The final player announced, Hernández pushed to be in the Derby and has earned his second All-Star selection. He’s on pace to surpass his career-best 32 home runs from 2021.

Marcell Ozuna, Atlanta Braves (OF)

Leading the NL in RBIs, Ozuna is back in the All-Star Game for the first time since 2017 and will make his Derby debut. He’s enjoying one of his best seasons at the plate.

Bobby Witt Jr., Kansas City Royals (SS)

This Texas native and son of former Ranger Bobby Witt Sr. is also a first-time All-Star and Derby participant. Witt Jr. has been making waves with an impressive start to his career.

2024 stats: .325, 15 HR, 62 RBIs

Career home runs: 65
