2024 WBSC Premier12 Super Round: Who plays Nov. 22? Times, TV and streaming
Time zone differences wreak havoc with the days games as Friday’s Super Round action features a Venezuelan double bill.
With Japan still unbeaten in the tournament, Friday brings us a Venezuela double bubble. Due to the time difference between Japan and the USA, viewers on this side of the Pacific will be treated to two Venezuela games on Friday. They will take on hosts Japan in the early game by our time, actually the late evening game the night before locally, before playing the USA that evening, which is the following day in Japan. Confused?
How has the Super Round gone so far?
In the first games of the Super Round, Venezuela topped Chinese Taipei by a score of 2-0, leaving the Taiwanese hanging on by a thread. The powerhouse game between the USA and Japan saw the Samurai sting the Americans with a 9-1 clubbing. This leaves both Chinese Taipei and the USA one loss away from crashing out of the competition.
Japan and Venezuela however are both the heavyweights of this tournament, with Japan yet to lose a single game throughout and Venezuela dropping only one game to Panama in their Group A stage. They will meet in what is widely expected to be the showdown of the tournament. Both of these pivotal games are taking place at the iconic Tokyo Dome.
Venezuela vs. Japan: preview
This matchup is billed as one of the Super Round’s most intense games. Japan has home-field advantage and an electrified fan base, while Venezuela’s powerful lineup has shown resilience throughout the tournament.
The Samurai have yet to fall in the tournament and took the USA apart completely, outgunning them 9-1 in the first game of the Super Round, making them the team to beat. But Venezuela have played David before to another Goliath in Mexico and dealt them short shrift in their Group A matchup.
Venezuela vs. Japan: start time, how to watch
The first game of the day on American shores will be at 5am Eastern Time, although the game is actually being played at 7pm in Tokyo. The game can be seen exclusively on DAZN in the United States.
USA vs. Venezuela: preview
Later in the day, the USA faces a must-win scenario against Venezuela to keep their championship hopes alive. The Americans, led by a mix of MLB prospects and seasoned veterans like Rich Hill, have shown flashes of brilliance but need consistency to outplay the Venezuelans.
With nothing to lose, the USA can be a dangerous snake to wrangle, but Venezuela have a ton of talent and may prove to be too much for the Eagles to handle.
USA vs. Venezuela: start time, how to watch
